I guess that announcing that I was leaving Instagram but not deleting my account, on Instagram was a poorly thought out move.
Not even 24 hours after I launched my blog, I got an email from Instagram with a link to reset my password 😒 (which means someone tried to hack me.)
Social media (/the internet) has never really been a safe place, even though we somehow think it is.
We have been brainwashed into believing that sharing every bit and tiny detail of your life is a SAFE thing to do. But it’s not. It never has been for a plethora of reasons that I won’t dive into today.
What I will say is, this is why I am reclaiming ownership of my work and my brand. I have worked damn hard to build this up and I am here to stay 😁

Oof, I'm sure there's scammers out there just waiting for Insta accounts to go out of use so they can take over.
The extent to which they try to impersonate average people and indie authors is really alarming. Like, we're just out here trying to make friends and grow a reader base. We don't actually have the kind of connections that would be useful to them. If any of us started hauking products or asking for money it would be completely out of character and everyone would know it was a scam.
